2017 Jeanneret Big Fine Girl Riesling
- Clare Valley
- Bottle size
- 750 mL
2017 really was a great year for Riesling and this wine’s right up there with my 2002 which makes it as good a season for this lovely variety as I can remember. The aroma is uncommonly savoury – much like I remember the ’02. And it’s fresh and very, very pretty. There’s heaps of fruit there too but more brambly, blackberry type aromas with a big burst of grapefruit. The wine is fine yet very textured and rich with beautifully balanced acidity and length. It’s the generosity and palate weight that really make this a standout and again reminiscent of the 2002. Drinking superbly now but with the texture this wine has, this is one to put away for a while.

A stunningly beautiful riesling; it is exquisitely polished in its styling with outstanding fruit purity and vibrancy, displaying lime sorbet, lemon pith, apple blossom and subtle flinty notes on the nose. The palate is concentrated and taut with fine texture and linear mouthfeel, brilliantly supported by juicy acidity, finishing impressively long and seamless. At its best: 2020 to 2027.
Aromas of candied limes and green apples lead to a palate that has silky composure and fresh, juicy acidity, tightly wrapping in the dry, lime flavors. Drink now. Screw cap.
